Basket Covered with Chenille Flowers

Hexagonal weave footed basket with bail handle and lid. Basket is covered with chenille flowers and leaves. Made before 1821 and formerly owned by Mary E. Henderson (1799-1836) of Five Pearl Street. Mary E. Henderson married Theodore Lyman in 1821.

Cream; sheer; embroidery and net inserts; foliate bands encircle face and neck, meet at center top; similar band inserted at back; background of small eyelet motif; drawstring at back; scalloped trim.
