State Street, as decorated for the Railroad Jubilee

The bottom half of this page from Gleason's Pictorial shows a view of State Street decorated for the Railroad Jubilee. Men in uniform ride horses and carry banners. Flags are strung between the two sides of the street as a crowd watches the procession moving toward the Old State House.

Gleason's Pictorial -- Weekly Drawing-room Companion mastheads

Mrs. Evans pool, fountain and summer house

The fountain, pool and summer house, constructed as part of the Italian rose garden, is seen on the Evans property. President Taft had used a cottage there as his summer White House in 1909 and 1910. The site is now the David S. Lynch Memorial Park in Beverly, Massachusetts.

The Italian rose garden created by Mrs. Evans is seen with the summer house, terraces and pool. The garden was created after the cottage used by President Taft was removed. The site is now the David S. Lynch Memorial Park.
