Blue folding fan, opens to form circle. Ivory guards, carved and turned ivory handle with acanthus leaf terminal; blue silk tassel; two ivory buttons at center.

P. Willman,1993: Imported Chinese sticks. Mount added by maker. See MFA catalogue #1976.314: similar design and sticks--c.1780s. Sticks predate mount. Foil underneath guard sticks is 19th C. Fan seems too small for box--probably not original box.
