The size 15 1/2 is recorded on the leaf on the side of the box. The Elmwood Collar was patented September 12, 1871. The decorated lid has birds on a tree branch with a house in the background. The square box is green with the size printed on a leaf.

The top of the box reads "O. Mallory's Patent Box. Patented June 19th, 1865." The printing was done by Adolph Nolte, 23 Buffalo Street. The lid has a cluster of grapes with the round box decorated in a gold and purple pattern.
