Hooked Rug

Rectangular hooked rug bound with wide striped twill; blue and white variegated border. Polychrome striped background with a two-masted ship at left and a three-masted ship at right, both with full sails. Large bird, probably a gull, at center and far left; smaller bird flies at right.

Sampler

Unframed sampler with nine iterations of the alphabet, two verses, two urns of flowers and two baskets of fruit; separated by red horizontal bands; yellow oval at bottom with maker's name and date inside, "Mary Perrin May/February 1825."

Rectangular mahogany desk box with brass inlay. Hinged lid with brass corners and engraved nameplate. Box interior has a red leather writing surface and three small compartments. The short sides of the box have a small narrow drawer with a brass pull handle.

Unadorned rectangular pine storage box with hinged lid. Keyhole in center of front panel. Box exterior has been stained a dark brown.

Pie plate extractor

Wood and metal kitchen implement. Spring loaded tongs mounted on a wooden rod. Used to pull hot pie plates out of the oven. According to the donor this device was invented by Charles C. Barrell.
